It's denim jacket season! I love a denim jacket - they are so useful, perfect for over summer dresses, with jeans, skirts - basically everything!

There are so many good ones around at the moment - different shapes/ styles, ripped ones, embroidered ones, coloured ones, tasseled ones, tight ones, baggy ones...

Here are a few of my favourites:

& Other Stories £65 / ZARA £49.99

& Other Stories £69 / MiH Jeans £162. 50 (was £325)

H&M £34.99 / Etré Celine £250

Every year at around this time a whole load of women (many of whom are mums on maternity leave) start searching for their 'Mum Coat'.

The Mum Coat you think might be easy to find but there is certain criteria that it needs to fulfil to qualify as an option:

  • It must be waterproof - if you are pushing a pram it is not an option to hold an umbrella

  • It needs to have a cosy hood

  • Ideally it will cover the tops of your legs and bum, so these areas don't get wet in the rain or cold in the snow

  • It has to be practical - good pockets, wipeable/washable

  • You have to love it (because you will spend a lot of time wearing it)

If you are pregnant this winter another option could be to look for a cape or go for your usual sized mum coat and invest in a big cosy scarf to keep the bump warm.

Asos £40 / The Tartan Blanket Co. £35

My chosen Mum Coat 2016 is this one from Burton Snowboards, it ticks all the above boxes, its cool and I love it.

Burton Snowboards £220

Here are a few other options that i've spotted:

Hush £170 / TOPSHOP £95 / Jigsaw £198 / Jaeger £200

I recently spoke on a panel at the Mothers Meeting & The Outnet event. It was so much fun and an excellent event. We spoke about everything from online shopping tips, outfit ideas for a breastfeeding, maternity style, wardrobe staples, wardrobe failures, what to invest in, what brands to look out for and much more...

I often feature and shop at The Outnet they have so many great things and bargains! The Outnet is Net A Porter's sale site and sells past season stock at a massive discount. They occasionally do 80% off flash sales which are amazing but sell out fast (so be quick), they are also great for jewelry, presents and are the first place i look if i need a special outfit for a special event.

My whole outfit on the night (apart from the shoes & bag) was from The Outnet and here it is:

Helmut Lang cropped wool blend blazer £211 (was £470) / Vivetta £262 (was £525) / Alexis £200 (was £445) / TOPSHOP £56 / Bag by Hill & Friends £1095

More photos of the night can be seen here on the Mothers Meeting website.

I don't enjoy being cold - especially due to not wearing the right clothes. I used to live in the mountains so i can appreciate the benefits of investing in clothes and brands that are experts at keeping out the cold.

One of the warmest jackets you can buy is a down jacket: A down jacket is a warm jacket that is filled with the soft feathers of a duck or goose, and the outer layer is usually made of materials like nylon or polyester. Down, the soft feathers mentioned, are usually taken from the breasts and wings of the duck or goose.

This is my amazing super warm down jacket from Burton Snowboards - it's designed to be worn in the snow so if you are looking for a cosy coat to withstand the cold then this one will defiantly do that. Plus it's reversible so its kind of like having 2 coats in one!  (comes in 3 colours and fits big).

Down jackets can be expensive and they vary massively in quality, generally speaking the more you spend the better quality of down you get and the warmer the coat. However they are an investment that you'll use every year. Here are a few more down jackets that look cool but are warm!

eBay have got some tips on buying a down jacket here.

There are a lot of cool Bomber Jackets around at the moment - the perfect jacket for inter-season.

Whistles £220 / TOPSHOP £65 / Etre Cecil £84 / MCQ ALEXANDER MCQUEEN £176 (was £390) / Self Portrait £240 / MARKUS LUPFER £165

Its raining, its not hot, it not cold but its wet - the coat you need is a rain mac.

I love my yellow one its been so useful - its really comfortable (soft lining), got massive pockets (full of old oat cakes), a hood and its really waterproof!  Its perfect for pushing the buggy in the rain - which is the season we are coming in to.

I've spotted a few others that would also make going out in the rain a bit more fun and a bit less wet.

Lazy Oaf £135 / Burton Snowboards £80 / Michael Michael Kors £234 (was £585) / Parka London £145 / BDG £20 (was £79) Iris & Ink £195 /  £875 (was £1750) / Stella McCartney £664 (was £1664)

Today i'm wearing this super easy, comfortable outfit - its perfect for hanging out with the kids and when the weather is both hot and cold.

I am loving my new casual summer jacket it's SO useful, i have been slinging it on over everything and will be layering it up when the weather gets cooler.  At first i wasn't convinced about my denim culottes as i reminded myself of myself as a teenager but now i'm over that i love them and wish i bought them sooner! I got this bandana from a market stall for £1.50 and am wearing it around my neck to add a bit of detail.

Elfie has got her summer coat on to its from Baby GAP - also really useful for confused weather, she is also rocking her super cool Pala Mino leggings to.

After dropping a lot of hints/bribes/threats i was lucky enough to get a black leather biker jacket for Mother's Day.  I have been after one for ages and did a lot of research to find the perfect one.

I do not buy fake leather bags or jackets (unless they are by Stella McCartney - which i never buy because i can't afford).  From experience i have learnt that they are things i regret buying and never wear, they don't last,  and for me end up being false economy.  Also i never buy jackets so they fit large - if you are between sizes always go smaller with a jacket, especially with a leather one.

Zara £150 / Topshop £220 / Karen Millen £350 / Whistles £350
