M&S JANUARY PICKS

This months’s M&S picks include the perfect crop loose jeans (I love M&S jeans), a very cool blazer, a cropped (Chanel / Clueless style) jacket and a cosy cardigan.

M&S jeans are some of my high street favourites - they fit well, do not go baggy after one ware and last. I’ve worn these jeans a lot since I bought them - dressed up with a sequin top and white boots and dressed down with t-shirt, cardigan and trainers. This style is called (High Waist Wide Leg Cropped Jeans) and is my current favourite.

Wear with: boots, bare ankles, funky socks and then sandals in the summer. They come in blue, black and ecru/white - I have them in every colour.

High Waist Wide Leg Cropped Jeans £29.50

I love this outfit - even though I am usually a pink person I do love a dabble in blue and blue is going to be big this Summer. This jacket is awesome, very cool and looks so great with jeans - it is comfortable too as it has a slight stretch.

I’d also like to draw attention to this white T-shirt. Perfectly cut t-shirts are quite hard to come by and this is a really good one - its great quality cotton, got nice long sleeves and is loose around the tummy which I like.

Pure Cotton Round Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt £22.50 /

Cardigans are back and I missed them, they are such a useful item of clothing. Love this tiger print one its so cosy and can be worn over everything and anything.

Animal Print Cardigan £25

LOVE this little box jacket - it actually comes with a matching skirt (I saw someone wearing it as a suit the other day and it looked very cool) it reminds me of something from the movie Clueless.

This post is part of my monthly retainer with Marks & Spencer, all thoughts and outfits are my own.

VERSATILE M&S PICKS

This month my M&S picks are all about versatility - whether that be to accomodate a 6 month pregnant belly, or because you can wear them in all weathers or to any occasion or simply because they are very useful things to have in your wardrobe.

Interseason is the time in between seasons - when it is not quite spring but not quite winter or when it is not quite hot summer but it is getting summerey. Anyway you get the idea and whichever seasons you are between it is always a confusing time of year for dressing.

This floral dress is a great dress for all seasons (and incidentally perfect for maternity + breastfeeding). I've worn it with tights and boots (winter) but in a few months (summer) I will be wearing it with sliders and rolled up sleeves.

Floral Print Long Sleeve Shirt Midi Dress £45 / Wide Fit Leather Block Heel Ankle Boots £69

Do not underestimate how useful a good quality, classic design, black leather backpack is but also don't underestimate how hard it is to find one. I am always on the lookout which is how I spotted this one - it is perfectly balanced and will last a lifetime.

Leather Backpack Bag £59

These trousers are amazing - I am 6 months pregnant in these photos so I am only able to wear maternity trousers or ones with elasticated waists, comfort is always key for me but especially at the moment. These are as comfortable as tracksuit bottoms but at the same time are a checked print that look smart enough for work.

Cotton Blend Textured Trousers £27.50 / Round Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt £7.50

This is an ideal shirt for anyone who does not want to show too much tummy or bum off (or for someone who is pregnant). It is super smart and feels really premium. I've teamed it over jeans but would also wear it with a pencil skirt or over leather leggings.

Pure Cotton Striped Dipped Hem Shirt £39.50 / Sculpt & Lift Mid Rise Skinny Leg Jeans £35

This post is part of my ongoing collaboration with Marks & Spencers. All thoughts, words and outfit choices are entirely my own obviously.

SUMMER HOLIDAY PACKING

Part of the fun for me of going on a Summer holiday is the outfits I get to wear.  I love digging out the summer clothes bag and getting a few new things to update it and planning what i'm going to wear in a climate that you can (hopefully) guarantee is going to be hot and sunny.

I always take a few (or more) swimming costumes and bikinis. There are so many different shapes and styles around at the moment but I look for ones with boob support. Since having children/breastfeeding/getting old... my breasts aren't so perky and shall I say self supporting as they used to be. I know to avoid styles that offer no support and that therefore give me 'flat tit' and go for slightly padded underwired ones instead.

These two are great - they have support in the cup, a detachable strap and are flattering on the mum-tum because they have Secret Slimming™ - an inner layer of control fabric that holds and flatters (and they really work!).

Secret Slimming™ Parrot Print Swimsuit £19.50 / Secret Slimming™ Tile Print Swimsuit £19.50

Generally for Summer holidays I pack 2 outfits per day plus a few extras tops/ bottoms for if I change my mind. I am aware that this possibly isn't the most efficient way of packing or that it isn't very excess baggage friendly but i've found that it works for me. I like to have options so I take tops and bottoms that can be dressed up or down, mixed and matched.

I love this pale blue crochet vest top (also availble in white) - it works equally well with a bright skirt as it does with denim cut offs.

Cotton Rich Textured Crochet Strap Vest Top £19.50 / Pleated A-Line Midi Skirt £25 / Denim Shorts £12.50

Denim shorts are a Summer holiday staple for me - these are good ones if you prefer a longer length. They are also flattering on waist as they come up higher.

This is a great, versatile and comfortable skirt. I love the colour and the elasticated waist band.

Beach cover ups and kaftans are great things - perfect for mooching (an activity only done on holidays) around in pre or post the beach or for having lunch at the beach cafe. I love this snake skin print one - very chic and looks great with gold.

Animal Print Embellished Kaftan £29.50 / Coin Detailed Sandals £35

This black and white dress would be a great investment and would get worn a lot. It is slightly thicker fabric (linen) than I would wear on a super hot holiday but perfect for the UK or when it gets cooler in the evening.

Linen Blend Printed Tassel Tunic Dress £29.50 / Leather Eyelet Across Body Bag £79.00

EVERYDAY OCCASION WEAR

I am not sure on the term 'occasion wear' because I believe that clothes shouldn't necessarily be saved for special occasions. All too often people have things in their wardrobes that they are saving for best or for a special occasion that never actually comes around.

I like to buy things that can work for all situations from the super smart to the everyday. With the right accessories and styling you can make dresses/outfits work for many different events, parties and everyday life.

This is a great dress - it is on-trend, super fun, makes a statement but isn't over the top. It would be perfect to wear on holiday but equally could be worn to a summer BBQ (+ denim jacket), wedding (+ heels and clutch) or to work (+ a smart jacket).

Straw Winged Tote Bag £29.50 / Cotton Blend Striped Skater Dress £69

There is a lot of lace around this season and this mint green is such a pretty colour. I've teamed it with white pointed flats (very in for summer) and a snakeskin clutch to make it look less traditional. The hem and sleeve length on this dress is really flattering so if you are looking for a pretty, simple, easy to wear summer dress then this is a good one.

Cotton Rich Floral Lace Swing Dress £69 / Leather Block Heel Slingback Flats £49.50 / Faux Leather Chain Shoulder Bag £19.50

This is another easy and very versatile dress - flattering, lightweight with broderie anglaise detailing and a flattering hem length. You could wear this anywhere from beach to wedding.

Pure Cotton Broderie Shift Dress £55 / Aztec Print Hand Embellished Clutch Bag with Strap £25

This post was kindly sponsored by Marks & Spencers. All the clothes, accessories, ideas and theories are entirely my own.

PARTY TIME

I love this time of year, there are always so many excuses to wear party (sparkly) clothes and to dress up. However with invitations comes the question 'what am I going to wear?' Here are a few easy, comfortable outfit ideas that are perfect for loads of occasions this party season:

This bronze sequin skirt is amazing and super sparkly so I kept the top simple and the boots cool. Instead of a coat I wore a cosy leopard print jumper and carried (a go with everything) metallic clutch.

Sequin Skirt £49.50 / Leopard Print Slash Neck Jumper £35 / Envelope Clutch £17.50 / T-Shirt £22.50

With all of my outfits comfort is key - the last thing you want to be at a party is uncomfortable as it might restrict you from having fun and that is what parties are for.

A simple pair of flats are important and very useful - these black patent ones (they also come in gold and tan snake print) are great and go with everything. I dance tested them the other night and passed with dancing colours.

There are a lot of pleated skirts around at the moment, this leopard print one is super cool. I've styled it with a simple black top, chunky chain necklace and biker jacket. It would also look cool with a bright red jumper and boots.

Pointed Toe Ballerina Pump £29.50 / Animal Print Pleated Skirt £35

This is a perfect work to party outfit. Leather skirts are a great winter staple - worn with a chunky knit by day then dressed up with a shirt or top for the evening.

Ruffle Front High Neck Blouse £29.50  / Leather Pencil Skirt £149

AUTUMN OUTFITS

Every time the seasons change I feel a strong urge to go shopping and there always seems to be so many things I need (want) all of a sudden. However I have learnt that successful Autumn shopping/dressing is about adding a few key pieces to your wardrobe, that will see you through to Winter, that can be dressed up and down and that can complement what you already have.

Here are a few never fail Autumn outfit ideas, shopping tips and some pieces that will make perfect additions to your wardrobe:

A statement coat: One thing I am always drawn to every season is animal print. I love it - animal print (in my opinion) is a neutral meaning it goes with everything, can be worn to anything and always looks fun and cool.  A leopard print coat is so much more fun than a black one and you'll be surprised how versatile it is.  Marks & Spencer have a few different style leopard print coats in at the moment to suit every shape, size and personality.

A new pair of jeans always makes a good addition to your wardrobe and can often bring back to life tops that you haven't worn for ages.  These are great - high enough around the waist to hide the 'mum tum', slightly cropped and work with ankle boots, flats, heels and trainers.

Collared Neck Overcoat with Wool £69 / Frayed Hem Slim Leg Jeans £35

A jumper dress: I love this dress, so comfortable, can be worn over jeans, leather trousers, with boots and tights or trainers. It would also look cool with a biker jacket on top or with a big colourful scarf.  If you are pregnant this could be a good dress to invest in (go for a size up).

A statement bag can be the making of an outfit - this heart shaped bag is amazing and perfect for Christmas parties, events and weddings.

You'll never regret investing in a pair of practical boots these are a perfect mix of a biker and chelsea boot and will look cool with tights, jeans and dresses.

Jacquard Long Sleeve Printed Dress £35 / Heart Clutch Bag £29.50

Leather (or faux) leather trousers are one of my Autumn/Winter staples, I wear them a lot, to everything with everything. For smarter occasions I usually wear them with a longer shirt and coat, then dress them down with a T-shirt, denim jacket and trainers.

Striped shirts are having their moment and this is a great one - it is super super simple, flattering, soft and a perfect cut with it's long cuffs.

This cardigan is leopard print and sparkly - I don't think it needs explaining, it's a winner and would possibly become the most useful thing you own.
